ALRIGHT! Since no one wants to post topics here because many of you probably think poems SUCK and you care about what others think then I'll be the first! I'm not afraid to say I love poems! Lol. Sorry if I insulted you earlier but that's just how I am! Don't take offense...
ANYWAY!
To get back on topic, this topic is about discussing your favorite poet and what your favorite poem by them is. I'll start first.
My favorite poet is Robert Frost because his poems have such deep meanings in them that I can relate to. Also, his poems have more than just one meaning in them and sometimes it's so deep, you can't figure out the meaning and you can only figure out the surface meaning. Sad to say, I can't pick just one poem that I love that Robert Frost wrote. My favorite (and classic... well known by many students who actually attend school!) poems are The Road Not Taken and Nothing Gold Can Stay. I love both because I can relate to both. If you guys don't know what these poems are, I'll provide the poems below:
The Road Not Take (by Robert Frost):
(taken from http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/15717 )
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
AND!
Nothing Gold Can Stay (by Robert Frost):
(This is one I know by heart )
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf's a flower
But only so an hour;
Then leaf subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
And those are the poems I love so much ^^.
NOW! 'Tis your turn my friends! It is time to discuss your favorite poet and your favorite poem by him/her and to give your opinions on a person's favorite poet/poem... just please no flaming THANK YOU! *bows and walks off stage*
