Death of a legacy Empty Death of a legacy

Post by Vox Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:18 pm

High up in the mountains there was a small monastery hidden away from the rest of the world. A famous martial artist known a Shao Lan created it in order to get away from the world full of violence and evil. He began to take in orphans and students in order to train them to become defenders of peace and justice. To become followers of the path of the open palm. A way of life centered around the bringing of peace and harmony to the land. Things were good until a week ago. The dojo was attacked by ninjas and the master was slain. Now left on their own. Some of the students have sworn to discover why their master was slain.

Utop the mountains where the monestary was hidden, everything was dead quiet. Not a single person stirred. The usual shouts of the students in training did not ehco across the mountain into the air.
Everyone had assembled to the centre of the monistary where a funeral right was being performed. It wass a dark day for all the students, even though the sun was shining and there wasnt even a hint of rain on the horizon... There were no clouds, and yet droplets pittered down onto the floor and the heads of the students. It was well known that each of them had their special abilities, so there was no doubt that this was one of them. All of the students that had bonded with the master had been there, all except one... Fikum sat hunched over in his room, staring at his blades on the floor. When he had come here he swore to himself never to use them to kill in cold blood. He diddnt attend the funeral... as he had seen enough death to know what it looked like, what it felt like, to him and to others. He reached forwaed and took up one katana and weighed it in his hands. He had not picked these up in years. The katana's weight in his hands brought back many memories... ones tht he wasnt too fond of remembering either. He got to his feet, and strapped the katanas to his back... his mind made up to hunt down and kill everyone associated with Shao Lan's death.

A pitch black wolf lowered its head to face the ground as the body was lowered into the ground, without provocation it lifted its head to the sky and let out a sorrowfull howl, that seemed to carry upon the wind. The wolf sat there for hours... even after he had been completely buried. After a long while of not even moving, eventually it too moved off to reccolect its thoughts. As it walked off, it started to change, until it looked completely different... save for the eyes.
Shadow rested her hands behind her head and let out a sigh, it had all happned too quickly, the Masters death was so sudden, by the time they found out it was too late. As Shadow walked up the stepps of the monistary, her hand rested on her katana on her hip.... from here on in it was unlikely that she would ever drop her guard again.

Raiden already had all of his stuff packed up. With Shao lan dead he didn't have any reason to stay here anymore. Though to be honest he didn't have much of a reason anyways. He only stayed in the hopes that the old man woyld be able to teach him something. He threw is pack over his shoulder and walked outside. Some of the students were still by Shao Lan's grave. A few of the students galred at Raiden and threw curses and insults at him as he walked by. It didn't bother Raiden though. He didn't bond with any of the students there so he honestly didn't give a damn what they thought of him. He walked down the mountain path and never looked back.

Jin sat in the Dojo in a dazed state. He still couldn't get over the fact that Shao Lan was dead. He kept waiting to wake up top the sound of Shao calling the students to breakfast, But he never did. Aftyer a few minutes Jin stood up and walked out of the dojo. He wondered who exactly would take over a the master. He knew he was the best choice for the role however he was afraid that Shao had made the mistake of choosing someone else as his successor. Jin couldn't take that chance. He quietly made his way to Shao's room and snuck in. He quickly began to go over all of Shao's records, hoping to find who he had chosen. What Jin found however sent him into a frenzy. In his own records Shao had written that while Jin was a great martial artist he still had much to learn about self control and that he had very little hope of ever becoming a great monk. Within minutes Jin had destroyed almost everything in Shao Lan's room and stormed out and headed towards his room knocking down or beating anyone that got in his way.

Fikum slowly slid open the door of his room and walked out. The weight upon his back felt strangly fermiliar, just the feeling it gave him nearly sent him into a violent killing spree, but Shao Lan had trained him to controll his urges to kill that the former had given him. He slipped into the hallway but as he did so he was knocked out of the way ny Jin. When he looked again he was in the hallway and Jin was approaching from the end of the hall, plowing his way through the students. This time he moved out of the way in time to avoid being knocked aside. He shook his head, he hated it when his foresight activated itself... especially on something as triveal as getting knocked aside. He could already feel the drain that using the ability had on his fatigue. He watched as Jin stormed towards his room, "Wonder whats eating at him." as soon as he said that he instantly regretted it as nearby students gave him a harsh glare. Death had that effect on people he guessed.

Movement from the corner of her eye made her turn round. Not many things caught Shadow's attention, but when they did it wasnt for no reason. She watched as Raiden left, she couldn't help but think that it was the right thing to do to leave. For most of them, Shao Lan was the only reason they were there, the only reason that they stayed. Shadow let out a sigh There were very few students that she even talked to, let alone made friends with, most probably the new successor to Shao Lan would be someone she diddn't even know. She turned round and walked into the monistary, she changed back into her wolf form and padded into her room and placed her items in a small pack, after that was done she stepped into it, the back straps going over her shoulders, and two sowed on extra strapps fitted to her hind leggs. When she was done the pack fitted neatly under her stomache, and her sword was strapped to her back with a single belt. Since she had spent most of her life in this form she was more comfortable in it.
    "So... youre leaving huh?"
Shadow froze for a moment before padding round to look up at Fikum. she lowered her head slightly "I am..." She said, her mouth not even moving.
Fikum let out a sigh, "Not without me youre not. I know where youre going, Quite selfish of you actually. To think you could go off like this."
Shadow sat down, "You have other reasons than me Fikum." With that she got to her paws and walked round Fikum out into the hall. After she heard his footfalls following her she paused, "Fik, dont folow me..." With that she broke out into a run and ran out from the temple grounds.
Fikum stood there and watched her go. "Find your own path is it Moon? Guess its to be expected from someone with her personality." Not exactly sure on what to do he turned round and started to walk aimlessly around teh temple.

Jin didn't make it to his room... Instead he found himself standing outside Jan Lou's room... The one who Shao Lan had chosen as his successer. Jin kicked the door down and stormed in to see Jan meditating on the floor. Jin quickly charged in and tried to kick Jan in the head Jan quickly rolled out of the way just in time to avoid Jin's kick. Jan stood up and glared at Jin. "I suppose you found out who Shao had chossen then? He knew this would happen. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY YOU WEREN'T CHOSEN!!" Jin growled and charged at Jan. Unleashing a flurry of attacks that were almost impossible to see or block as Jan quickly found out. Within a few minutes Jan was already having a hard time standing much less defend himself. With a particularly strong kick Jin knocked Jan out of the room through the wall and out into the center of the monastary. Syedents came out of their rooms to watch the fight. Before Jan could even stand up Jin was already beating him to a bloody pulp. After what seemed like hours Jin was finally finished. Jan was nearly unrecognizable due to having pretty much every bone in his face broken and his face caked in blood. Jin wiped the blood off his fist. "You see? I was the better choice... I beat you so easily it wasn't even funny. YOU'RE PATHITIC!! Why the master choose a weakling like you is beyond me." Jan was on his knees trying his best to stay conscious. "Shows how much of a fool... You are. It has nothing to do with strength. But wisdom. Something that you... Will never have." He coughed up a wad of blood and chuckled. "And that's..... Why you'll always be the weakest among us." Jin's feet started to glow as he turned around and delevered a kick so powerfull that it snapped Jan's head back and knocked it off his shoulders with the spine still attached. Jin looked at the frightened faces of the students and stormed off to his room, packed his things and left the monastary. He wasn't about to let some weakling be in charge of him. He would find a new dojo and a master that acknowleged his power.

Fikum watched the fight from where he was standing and shook his head, the death of Sensei had driven some to madness... and he was sure that chaos was soon to follow. "I'm not going to stay here long enough for this place to turn into a warzone..." Literally having all he owned on him at the time, he simply left, but decided to take the back pathway, as to avoid the others on the road. Knowing the back way would snake its way round to join up to the first, but by that time, the others would hopefully be long gone. Fikum was a bit of a loner so he usually handled better on his own than in a group.

Shadow had run down the path until the man that had left earlyer was in her sight... Truth be told she intentionally followed him, not with any reason mind you. Funny thing about the monistary, you could be there for years and still not meet all the students, and she was sure that she had not seen him before. She slowed to a walk, but slowly caught up to him, although she did keep a safe distance between him and her. She was hoping to pass off as a normal dog... but what dog carries a bag on its belly with a sword strapped to its back?
