A tour of the Realms

"Oh you know what I mean." Volo said with a wave of his hand as they walked down the street. Tannin following closely behind with a smirk. The fact that Volo had left the tavern without paying for his drinks was not lost to him. "So where are we headed first?" He asked.
"South, to Baldur's Gate. Since the spellplague I hear things have changed a lot down there. Best thing that ever happened as far as that city's concerned." Volo answered.

Aluida looked around some, thinking of nothing else to say he decided to ask, "Spellplague?"

Volo stopped in his tracts and looked at Aluida as if he were insane. "Where.... exactly are you from?"

Aluida looked to him for a while, noting his expression before chuckling to himself, "Nowhere you would have ever heard of. Insarum, Ishmir county on the First Tier." He said, knowing full well he could have just said a bunch of random words and it would have made just as much sense

Volo looked at Aluida for a moment before pulling in his lips and raising his eyebrows. "Sounds like a real place to me, you'll have to tell me about it sometime! It doesn't sound like anything on Faerun sooooo you're from another plane perhaps?"

He nods slightly, resting his hand on the hilt of his blade merely out of habit, his expression still a calmed neutral. "I am. I've been chasing an Astenai, can describe them as life-stealing demons of deciet. very hard to kill. unfortunately" he said with a slight frown

"Sooo why not trap it instead of killing it?" Tannin asked.
"Indeed." Agreed Volo. "There are all sorts of ways to imprison all manner of strange creatures here in the realms. If you can't kill it, just.... stick him underground or have him banished to the hells. Won't be the first time it's happened to an immortal evil."

"he'd just kill himself and respawn." he looks to the others as they walk, "Or, he'll just jump to the next realm when he has a chance and the chase starts again"

"Ah!" said Volo raising a finger. "But you see, there are such spells that can prevent that sort of thing from happening. That can bind the soul to one place to ensure such interplanary traveling doesn't happen. Keeps them rooted in the spot, or object."
"Had a sword like that once." Tannin said. "Had the soul of something Very powerful trapped in it."

"what happned to said sword?" Aluida said as he looked to Tannin, mulling over the possibilities, he'd far rather want Akuma properly dead for what he did, but an eternal prison sounded good enough at that current point in time

"It's kept away somewhere safe." Tannin said. "Along with a few other items, Locked in a box under a house somewhere up north."

When the reached the stables near the gate Volo turned to them. "Now then... I hope the both of you know how to ride a horse." He said cautiously. He certainly didn't want to have to ride with people that had no idea how to handle a horse.

Aluida looked at him blankly, "you could have just stopped at 'kept somewhere safe' now its got more detail." He said as a passing aside as they walked on, only speaking next when Volo commented about the horses. "I havn't met someone yet who hasn't?" he said whilst tilting his head slightly
